Constables are constitutionally authorized peace officers elected by precinct. There are four (4) Constables in Williamson County. The primary duty of constables is to serve as Officer of the Justice of the Peace Courts. In that capacity, Constables serve subpoenas, warrants of arrest and other papers issued from the JP, but often are also called upon to assist or perform other law enforcement duties such as traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, or other duties as necessary.
