
About Chief Deputy Tony Marshall…
L.C. "Tony" Marshall began work at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office on January 1, 2005, as Sheriff James R. Wilson's Chief Deputy. Chief Marshall was born and raised in the Plainview, Texas area where he attended public schools and Texas Tech University.
Marshall began his law enforcement career in 1975 with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Upon graduation from the DPS training academy, Marshall was assigned to the Highway Patrol in Spearman and Lubbock where he remained a state trooper until 1984. Marshall promoted into the DPS Criminal Intelligence Service, later renamed the Special Crimes Service, and was assigned to the Houston office. He remained in Houston until 1996 when he promoted to Captain and was assigned to the Dallas office. In 2001, Marshall was appointed Assistant Commander for the Narcotics Service in Dallas, supervising narcotics enforcement in one of four regions in the state. In 2002, Marshall was named the Service Commander for the Special Crimes Service assigned at DPS headquarters in Austin.
While serving as Commander, Marshall supervised more than 200 personnel who were responsible for multiple crime categories and programs to include Counter terrorism/Homeland Security, Texas Top Ten fugitives, Missing Persons Clearinghouse/Amber Alerts, Pari-mutuel Racing, Sex Offender Civil Commitments, Governor Protection Detail, and Organized Crime.
Marshall retired as Commander in December 2004, after serving more than 29 years with the DPS.
