Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2

Judge Edna Staudt presides over the Precinct 2 Court. The Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace's office is located in the Williamson County Annex at 350 Discovery Blvd., Ste. 204, Cedar Park, TX 78613 on the second floor. The office is open 8:30 am - 12:00 pm on Monday, and 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Tuesday through Friday. This court does not take personal checks or credit cards in payment of fines, but accepts money orders or a cashier's check. Cash should not be mailed.

General Rules of Attire and Conduct

Courtroom Attire

ALL PERSONS present in the Courtroom shall be clean, neat and dressed in a manner that shows dignity and respect for the Court.

Unacceptable attire includes:
Shorts, cut-offs, baggy pants, oversized coats (jackets), flip flop style shoes, hats, cropped shirts, muscle shirts, clothing indicating gang affiliation or other clothing with offensive, vulgar, racist, sexist, obscene, suggestive words, slogans, depictions, or pictures, including grotesque creatures. Clothing that is torn, dirty and ragged will not be allowed.
ALL SHIRTS MUST BE TUCKED INSIDE PANTS!
Provocative clothing designed, styled, or worn to provoke emotion or disrupt or distract will not be allowed.

Courtroom Conduct

Conduct in the “Courtroom” also includes the reception/foyer area, jury room and/or any office space assigned to the Justice Court.

1. Any type WEAPONS are PROHIBITED in the Courtroom and this building EXCEPT for LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.

YOU ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH!

2. Be on time.

3. Rise when the Judge enters and remain standing until the Judge or bailiff announces, “Be seated”. Rise when the Judge exits the courtroom.

4. Do not argue with the court.

5. Address the court as “Judge” or “Your Honor”.

6. Address opposing parties, counsel, witnesses and court officers as “Mr.”, “Mrs.”, “Miss”, “Dr.”, etc. Do not use first names, except with children 14 years of age and younger.

7. Do not approach the Judge’s bench without permission. Do not rest arms on the bench. Remain behind the marker on the floor.

8. Do not chew gum in the Courtroom or bring drinks or food items into the Courtroom.

9. Racist, sexist, obscene, or profane language is prohibited unless it is pertinent to a case, and is elicited and quoted from facts in the case.

10. Do not enter or depart the Courtroom excessively and do not slam the doors.

11. Do nothing to disturb or distract the court, counsels, witnesses or other court personnel.

12. Do not read newspapers, magazines, periodicals, books, etc. in the Courtroom during proceedings.

13. Absolutely No cellular phones in the Courtroom and No pagers in the Courtroom.

14. All property in the Courtroom and reception area must be treated with respect. No writing on any papers posted or furniture.

15. No recording devices are allowed without judicial approval.

PRO SE parties (individuals representing themselves without an attorney) should be prepared to present their cases in proper manner. It is not the court’s duty to represent you nor instruct you on evidence, rules, or how to present and prove your case. If you are unprepared, unaware and not knowledgeable as to presenting your case, you may lose your case.

Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2

Judge Edna Staudt is the Justice of the Peace for Precinct Two of Williamson County. She is in her fourth term of office.  She has served on numerous boards, including the Williamson County Jail Bond Board,  Child Fatality Review Team, Safe and Drug Free Schools Committee, Austin Crisis Pregnancy Center, Agape Pregnancy Resource Center, YMCA, Right-Step Alcohol & Drug Center, and Central Texas Justice of the Peace and Constable Association.  She is also an active member of the Chamber of Commerce in Cedar Park, Leander, and Liberty Hill.  Judge Staudt has been received numerous awards and recognition for her service to the community.

She partnered with the Greater Williamson County YMCA to create the first county wide Teen Court.   Seeing the need for resources to address family problems, Judge Staudt created the Justice Court Mentoring Program which networks with local businesses and ministries to assign mentors to troubled teens in her court. The Justice Court Mentoring Program has been effective in reducing crime since 1997.  She has created several programs to address the various needs of the community.  She speaks regularly to civic groups and students educating on laws and policy.

Originally from Austin, Judge Staudt is married, has six children and four grandchildren.  She attends the The Journey Bible Fellowship where she and her husband assist with music for the Youth Group.
